Dark Textured Ring
Dark ring textured from the Coral Collection. The collection is inspired by the arbitrary formations of the marine animals. The irregularly arranged little beads create lively, vibrant shapes and surfaces - the jewelry itself is reminiscent of small, shimmering creatures. This collection pays tribute to the abundant habitat of the underwater beings which thrive in hidden vast world beneath. This ring offers a very comfortable fit because of the slightly domed interior.
*in some pictures you see both rings (slim + wider) of this collection.
Materials
925 Sterling Silver oxidized (blackened) finish.
About the dark finish: the surface of this silver jewel is intentionally oxidized. It got of a surface treatment (like a gold plating), which means that this coloring is only preserved for a certain period of time. On some pieces, such as earrings or pendants, the darker surface remains for a very long time for there usually is hardly any friction on the neck or ear. With arm jewelry, rings or wedding rings, the darker surface rubs off quicker as a result of daily wear -friction, bumping, scratching and the normal strain on the surface. The rings with a slight concave groove, with a part of the silver surface in a lower position, these dark surfaces are protected and last longer. This can create a nice contrast between the upper, lighter and the lower, darker parts and gives the piece a distinctive look. However, each piece can be easily and inexpensively restored to its original look by repeating the surface treatment. If you are interested in this process being renewed, please contact us.
Size
Ring width approx. 7 mm
Process
The original piece was molded in wax and then poured into a negative mould in silver. This process is called 'lost wax casting' as nothing of the original wax body remains, but the finished piece consists only of sterling silver. All our jewelry pieces are handmade in our Berlin atelier. Each piece comes in a black Cirer jewelry box.
Patience and care are worthwhile when determining ring sizes.
We have therefore put together some tips for you on how to measure your sizes as reliably as possible.
Measuring with metal trial rings
As fingers react to temperatures and other factors and can change their condition over the course of the day, in our experience the most reliable way to determine sizes is with a set of metal (not plastic) trial rings (e.g. this one).
It is advisable to wear the rings in the morning and evening (possibly also at night) for a longer period of time. In this way, you can develop a feeling for the right size.
We recommend separating the individual rings from the band. This requires some force, but it is worth it when determining the size.
Please keep in mind that the width of your final (wedding) ring also influences the size that you need. Generally we can say: the wider the ring rail, the bigger the ring size (as the ring covers more of your finger).
Each sample-ring from this set is about 2 mm wide, so if the ring width is e.g. 5 mm, we recommend to rather take half to one size bigger for your wedding ring than the determined size from the trial rings.
When determining the ring size, please always use a ring and NOT something flexible to measure, as this can lead to major inaccuracies!
Flexible measuring tools such as plastic measuring tapes for the fingers are unfortunately not very precise. The measuring tapes are usually much wider than the (wedding) rings and do not simulate a realistic wearing experience. In addition, a flexible measuring tape does not have a perfectly round diameter, so incorrect ring sizes can be determined.
Measuring with a well-fitting ring
Determining the ring size from the inside diameter of a ring can be somewhat inaccurate, as a difference of 1 mm can make a difference of approx. 3 ring sizes (see table below).
We therefore recommend that you either measure very precisely with a caliper gauge (including tenths of a millimetre) or send us a suitable ring.
In this case, please make sure that the ring has a similar width and fits the finger on which you would like to wear your Cirer ring.
Measurement in a goldsmith's shop or at a jeweller's
You can also have the sizes measured at a goldsmith's or jeweller's (preferably with rings of a similar widths).
However, please bear in mind that this is usually only a snapshot and that fingers can change.
